The TrainForTrade Project in West Africa was lauched in 2012 and will run until 2015. The overall goal of the project is to Accelerate progress in West-African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, the Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Senegal and Togo) towards the achievement of internationally agreed development goals, particularly MDG 8, through trade-related training and capacity building.

TFT & UNDP Angola (2013) : The Growing Sustainable Business Project in Angola (2013)

Overview of the Cooperation between TFT and UNDP Angola

TFT will provide assistance to UNDP in implementing its GSB Project in Angola by developing and executing six capacity-building workshops, between January and June 2013, in the areas of:

  • Sustainable Tourism for Development
  • Productive Capacities and Poverty Reduction

Objective

The collaboration between TFT and UNDP Angola aims to:

  • Build on the results of the TFT Project for Angola (2007 – 2011)
  • Strengthen the knowledge of government officials and private sector managers with regard to sustainable tourism and the role it could play in fostering sustainable and inclusive local economic development
  • Enhance the ability of government officials and private sector managers working in the tourism sector to identify opportunities for sustainable tourism projects, and to successfully organize and implement local sustainable tourism projects
  • Heighten government officials’ understanding of what productive capacities constitute and the importance of developing these to effectively reduce poverty, and secure sustainable economic growth.
TrainForTrade é o programa principal de formação e capacitação da CNUCED nas áreas do comércio internacional, dos serviços relacionados ao comércio, do investimento, da gestão portuária e do turismo sustentável.

A pedido de um governo, a equipe TrainForTrade realiza uma análise preliminar das necessidades de formação no país e apresenta um documento de projecto para atender a estas necessidades. O lançamento do projecto depende, principalmente, das contribuições financeiras de doadores, mas o país também é convidado a partilhar os custos.

Quando um projecto se inicia, a equipe identifica potenciais parceiros locais capazes de se tornarem:
instrutores para ministrar futuros cursos
  • centros de formação de competências ou equipamentos específicos
  • instrutores especializados em actividades de formação à distância
  • membros de comités de coordenação nacional / regional

Sustainable Tourism for Development
L'objectif de ce projet, qui s'appuie sur la méthodologie TrainForTrade de la CNUCED, est de renforcer les capacités de formation du Cambodge et du Laos, deux pays parmi les Pays les Moins Avancés (PMA) asiatiques, dans les domaines du commerce international, de l’investissement, des politiques de concurrence, du commerce et de l'environnement, de la facilitation du commerce. Cet objectif est mis en oeuvre au travers de formation de formateurs, de techniques d’enseignement à distance ainsi que de coopération entre instituts de formation situés dans des PMA. En complément au renforcement des capacités, des changements opérationnels législatifs et réglementaires sont initiés dans les secteurs économiques identifiés avec les responsables et décideurs concernés. Le projet a débuté en novembre 2003 avec l'appui de financements français pour une durée de quatre ans.
